We headed off to Barham in the morning, a 30 minute drive from our accoomodation at Lake Charm.

The course looked very nice as we drove in and certainly not busy. We checked in with the Pro, Rob McNaughton, another pro who knows Uncle Mike and spoke very highly of him.

We didn't play particularly well but we both enjoyed the course, my chipping let me down enormously, plus I relaxed too much on one hole and didn't position myself for a tiny putt and it missedmand then took me another 2 to get in the hole - not a good habit to get into as I ended up with 11 instead of 7. We both played the back 9 better than the first so,that was encouraging.

Barham is a very pretty course with some interesting holes, some of them elevated above the fairways with huge bunkers just before the green. Unfortunately in one hole Chris was going for the wrong green, he hit a shot out of some trees and I thought he had misguided it, anyway it almost rolled back to his feet and he had another go which I missed. Then he said to me "where are you" and I said "on the green, where are you?" and he said "on the green" - he was on the wrong green and had completely missed seeing the green I was on - the correct green! Not good for the scores.

Chris had 4 bogeys but no pars today and I had 0 pars and 6 bogeys.

Scores for today were: Chris front 9 = 63, and for the back 9 a 57 for a total of 120, less his 31 handicap = 89, with 26 stableford points.

For me front 9 = 62, back 9 = 50 for a total of 112 less my 31 handicap = 81, with 29 stableford points.

Our handicaps have remained, 31 for Chris and 31 for me.

Next: Drive to Goolwah, 30th May
