We left Maiden's Inn at Moama this morning at 9:30 to head for Pelican Waters Caravan Park at Lake Charm, both of us thought we had stayed at this park before, but not quite so sure now as we can't imagine why we would come to this area. Certainly not much there other than the lakes which for "boat" people would be fine.

The caravan park looked deserted, took a few rings of the bell before the caretaker (Vanessa) came down. We checked in and Vanessa said that we had booked for 4 nights. Which I felt was a bit long, but at that point we had left the paperwork in the car.

Then we were shown the cabin we had booked, well our faces fell, once Vanessa went back to the office we discussed things. Went back and rang the bell a few more times ...ll aboutn8 times, then wLked around the park and found Vanessa cleaning a cabin so we asked for an upgrade, actually to the cabin she was cleaning -right on the lake.....no problem as we were the only ones in the park.

We headed into Kerang for lunch while the cabin cleaning was finished, found a pub and had a nice lunch, got some supplies and headed back to Lake Charm.

The cabin was ok, a little small even though it had 2 bedrooms, with all our luggage we soon fill a place up. Our next adventure was with the laundry. We took our washing over, started the machine and went back to sit outside by the lake for about 40 minutes until we thought the cycle would have finished. Back to the laundry to find that we couldn't get in....the door was locked and the key we had wouldn't open it, so back to ring the bell a few more times and Vanessa came down with the key and let us in, this time we tested the door to make sure it wasn't locking after we left. We needed some more dollar coins for the dry so I walked back to the cabin only to find the door locked....I was dreading having to disturb Vanessa again, anyway I walked back to the laundry and Chris had the key in his pocket. We left the washing in the dryer and once again sat outside for a little while until the sun went low and it was getting cold. Another trip back to the laundry to find the dryer finished butmthe washing still wet, so more coins and off we went again and started to prepare dinner. Another trip back to the laundry and still the washing was damp, then Chris realised that we weren't shutting the door properly. So eventually it was dried, we got to have dinner and we went to bed.

The other thing about this accomodation was that we had to bring our own linen, which we have with us, but no blankets either and it is freezing of a night. Fortunately we had our sleeping bags, glad we didn't leave them in Walcha! We left the heater on all night (not happy about that as it kept cutting in and out and kept me awake, still I was cold all night even with long johns, and a fleecy jumper.

So that was our first night in Lake Charm and lucky it wasn't our only night there.
