We left Balnarring very early in the morning on 3rd March and headed for the Port of Melbourne to board the Spirit of Tasmania. The boarding went very smoothly and although we had been up early and on the road we were feeling pretty good.
The trip across the Tasman was very smooth and the 9 hours just seemed to fly by. Perhaps that was because they were replaying quite a few of the AFL games from the weekend so we had lots of entertainment.
Once we had landed in Devonport and were back in our car we exited the port and headed to Bridport. We stopped at an IGA in Devonport for some supplies and also rang our host Gina to let her know we were on the way.
The drive was pretty uneventful, it was getting dark so not a lot to see other than all the road kill. We thought these were very small wallabies but turns out they are either pademelon, possums or quolls.
We arrived here safely, found reception (bit difficult in the dark) and Gina's husband Tony settled us in. We have a 2 bedroom sort of cottage, there are 3 adjoining cottages. The property is 40 acres and has cows and chooks, a few other free standing cottages and a very big games room. When we arrived there were a group of 8 male golfers already here, they left on Wednesday and another couple arrived who are next door to us (Robert and Heather). They are golfers too and are from around south of Hobart and worried about fires down that way but have their son who is a firefighter looking after their place.
