On Monday (4th March) we went off to Barnbougle Lost Farm Golf Course, quite a hike along a dirt badly corragated road. Both the Barnbougle courses are the most expensive we have played at ($100 each for 18 holes or with the golf book we have to play all day - not that we can). Actually Lost Farm has 20 holes so slightly better value for money. Not sure if it was due to the bad golf but we were not that impressed with Lost Farm. I played ok, Chris lost at least 20 balls and was not happy for the whole game. So I guess that really spoilt things a bit. Looking back he was probably tired from the travelling all day on Sunday.
On Tuesday we drove to Beaconsfield (back the way we had driven to Bridport). This is where the 2 guys were buried in the mine disaster in 2006 . The mining museum and heritage site are really good and we thoroughly enjoyed looking around here. Just amazing how those guys survived.
From there we went to Beauty Point and had a late lunch at a really nice cafe on the water. The food here was terrific. After lunch we went to Seahorse World and did a tour and found out a lot about seahorses. Also saw thousands of their tiny babies. I didn't realise what a big industry it was and the demand for seahorses.
Wednesday was another beautiful day weather wise, we have just been so lucky. We were booked to play at Barnbougle Dunes at 11:30, so headed out there and pretty well got straight on. This was a very nice course, more established than Lost Farm with sweeping ocean views and also quite challenging. We both played off the blue tees and I managed 32 points and Chris had 29 points. So not a bad day overall. We called into the club house for a drink/tea afterwards and chatted with the couple who were playing in front of us, discussing golfing stuff and what we felt about the course.
After golf we drove into Scottsdale for some supplies, about a 20 km drive from our "home" and a bigger town than Bridport.
While dinner was cooking we played table tennis and snooker in the games room (both of us are better at table tennis than snooker). We fed the chooks had some dinner and briefly watched My Kitchen Rules - just the last minutes while we waited for another show to start and yes what a waste of time that show is absolutely dreadful.
Thursday morning Chris had planned a scenic drive for us, but I must have bent awkwardly in the bathroom and my back just seized up, so after icing and a few phone calls we headed into Launceston to see a Chiro. I certainly didn't enjoy the drive there but the adjustment helped a little bit and we drove home a different way which was a lot easier on my back and also more scenic.
Friday 8th March: I was a bit better this morning so we decided to go for a drive around Scottsdale and environs, just see where the road took us. It turned out to be a very interesting day, first we came across Ringarooma and the tree carvings. PUT IN A LINK TO PICTURES???
