Wednesday 27th March, we intended to play some golf today at the local Strahan course, however the wind was just howling so we decided to drive to Zeehan. It was well worth the hours drive. This town has gone from a population of 8000 to 600 due to the closure of the mines in and around the town.
We spent over 3 hours looking through the heritage museum and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There was an underground mine simulation and I was very glad to get out of there. Mining is not something that I would have been very good at as I really didn't like being underground for any length of time. They have a World Class Mineral Exhibition, I really couldn't believe that there are so many gemstones in the world, some of them are just fasinating to look at.
